Absence of Evidence is not Evidence of its Absence

This is an interesting title, but what am I talking about???

What I’m trying to say with this little quip is, just because you can’t see evidence of something doesn’t mean it’s not there/possible.

If you tinker with the word impossible, it can become I’m possible. (We have Audrey Hepburn to thank for this one.)

Just because we haven’t received something YET, doesn’t mean we are incapable of receiving it.

I believe we can be, do, or have anything we want, we just have to take on the identity of it first.

So if we want to be wealthy, or healthy or confident or popular or anything else, we have to step into it in our minds first.

If we REALLY believe something deep in our subconscious mind, and we work towards it with utter faith, then we can most definitely be, do, or have whatever it is.

Most things that are meant for us often happen very easily – that house, job or relationship that just seemed to drop into our lap…

This only happens when we have the belief and the identity for that item/way of being.

If we want soul-boosting things in our life we have to have high-level thinking and belief beyond all doubt.

What most of us have got is stinking-thinking and lots of doubt!

When we have a strong desire for something, we must take 2 steps.

The first step is believing that that desire is possible, the second step is working towards becoming it.

I don’t mean flog-ourselves-to-death work.

On the contrary, I mean enjoyable inner work.

So we become the PERSON who would naturally be, do, or have that thing.

So what is high-level thinking?

Let me tell you a little story by way of an example.

A while ago, I had a trip to New York booked and was planning my itinerary.

I asked a few friends, who I knew had previously been, what their suggestions for activities were.

One of my friends highly recommended I visit the cities only revolving restaurant.

She was very excited about it.

On that basis, I booked the restaurant (which had a very exclusive menu!) so I wouldn’t miss out and be disappointed.

When the evening came around for our booking, I was eagerly anticipating something really special.

The restaurant was in a hotel and when we arrived at the hotel I have to say I was completely underwhelmed (to say the least!)

The taxi-driver had dropped us off at a side entrance.

It was in a dark, dusty alleyway, with lots of bags of rubbish piled up high – it really didn’t feel very nice.

I started to doubt myself.

Perhaps my friend had got it wrong?

Because the buildings were all so tall, it was really difficult to see anything at all from street level, apart from the dust and the rubbish.

We entered the hotel and took the lift to the 48th floor.

As the doors opened, I only had one word.

Wow!

The sight that greeted me literally took my breath away.

A panoramic view of the whole of the Manhattan sky-line – all lit up like a Christmas tree.

Geographically, I was still stood in the same spot as I had been at street level, but 48 floors up I could see a WHOLE different world.

I could see things from a totally different perspective.

THIS is high-level thinking.

I want you to start thinking at level 48 (or above) NOT at level zero.

At level zero things often seem impossible.

At level 48, EVERYTHING seems possible.

When 25 year old medical student Roger Bannister had the belief and high-level thinking that he could run a mile in under 4 minutes, there was complete absence of evidence, but that didn’t stop him.

As we all know he achieved his vision spectacularly.

No-one had ever achieved this feat before him, but once he ran that sub 4-minute mile he released the floodgates for many others to follow in his tracks.

Any inventor who’s ever lived has had absence of evidence for whatever their idea was.

Their invention didn’t exist, but their vision did – they kept high-level thinking and working on their vision until they brought it into creation/reality.

What Roger Bannister and all the worlds’ inventors had was ultimate belief.

They had utter faith and a complete lack of doubt.

I’m going to give you a disgusting, but very important analogy about doubt now, so prepare yourself.

Imagine you are a brilliant baker.

(You may well be, but just imagine for now, either way).

You are known far and wide for your delicious cakes.

You have mastered your craft and now bake cakes to perfection.

You blend all your special ingredients and create the perfect cake mix – the Rolls Royce of cake mixes.

And then you go outside and scoop some dog poo of the pavement and put that into your delicious cake mix.

Would you now eat that cake?

Would anyone else?

Is one tiny speck of dog poo enough to spoil the whole thing?

You bet it is.

This is how I want you to think about doubt from now on.

Doubt has got to go if you want to achieve your desire.

It’s dog poo in your delicious cake mix.

It’s spoiling something that could be really amazing.

I appreciate, having absolute faith and eliminating doubt is not easy to achieve.

BUT IT IS POSSIBLE.

Is there work involved – yes, of course there is.

But it’s enjoyable work.

(We all know that we don’t appreciate things we haven’t worked for anyway – ask most lottery winners.)

It’s work that doesn’t feel like work, because you’re on your happy path.

You’re on the path to the life you want.

You just need to get on that path and keep walking.

Our brains have a negative bias.

They were designed this way to alert us to danger so that we could stay alive in more dangerous times.

The negative sticks to us like Velcro, whereas the positive slides off like Teflon.

We have to reinforce the positive and do everything we can to eliminate the negative.

A great way to do this is by NOTICING, SAVOURING and CELEBRATING the positive and turning away and diminishing the negative.

Draining the colour and strength out of it.

I always imagine I’m washing away my negatives.

When I take a shower or bath, I imagine the warm water washing away the dirt from my mind, (my stinking-thinking.)

I wash away any dirt from my heart, my other organs and all of my cells.

I wash away as much dirt/negativity/dog poo doubt as possible.

We grow new cells every day – they are constantly reproducing.

It’s time to grow new cells and organs that don’t remember/associate with dog poo doubt or negatives.

You might think this is Pollyanna thinking – it’s too positive.

You might believe you have to focus on the negative to prepare yourself, so you won’t be disappointed.

You might believe you need to keep it real.

Well, you don’t.

Because then you are programming your subconscious mind (your super-computer) for failure/disappointment/inaction.

Your subconscious mind is your obedient servant – you have to programme it with what you WANT, NOT what you DON’T WANT – (Yes, I have told you this before.)

And yes I will tell you again.

And I’ll keep telling you until it sinks in completely 🙂

Your subconscious mind needs time for things to sink in, so it adores repetition.

It wants you to tell it your wants and wishes and then it can bring them to you.

Imagine you had a robot butler who lived with you.

He follows you everywhere; never sleeps and is always on hand waiting for your instructions.

He’s a clever little robot; he can read your mind.

He reads your mind, then starts acting out all of the thoughts or images in your head.

He only understands positives, so he turns all your negatives upside down.

So when you think I don’t want to wake up late, he hears I want to wake up late and he switches off your alarm.

Or when you think I’m as fat as a pig, he increases your appetite so that you eat more and get piggier and piggier.

These are extreme examples, but I hope you get the point.

You must train your super-computer/robot butler very carefully!

Doubt is a runaway horse.

(And we all know they don’t go anywhere we want to go!)

Doubt is a dark, dusty alleyway where all we can see is dirt and rubbish.

(And we don’t want to go there either.)

It’s time to let go.

You can do this, but you might need my help.

So get in touch today.

Let’s do some high-level thinking together.

And definitely no more dog poo in your cake mix!

Much Love
