“If I create from the heart nearly everything works; if from the head, almost nothing” (Marc Chagall, Artist).
How often do you create from your heart?
Most men navigate their way through life solely relying on their intellect and logic.
When it comes to decisions, most men like to shut off their heart and only use their mental faculties.
Phrases like use your head, think carefully and he’s got a good head on his shoulders are all commonplace.
What’s wrong with that, you might be asking?
Well nothing, per se.
We are the only species gifted with a conscious mind, intellect and rationale, so we should be using it.
But, most men I meet are chronic over-thinkers.
They live in their head constantly and do nothing but think.
They ruminate incessantly.
They live with a completely cluttered mind.
They have a constant stream of negative, disempowering thoughts running through their head all day long.
They think the same old stuff over and over and over again.
Can you relate?
The reason I think men think so much is so they don’t have to feel.
They are uncomfortable feeling their feelings, so they stay in their head, avoiding them all together.
This becomes their “safe” zone.
But this single focus is not healthy.
Their thinking becomes a bad habit…
Your head can lie; it can play tricks on you.
It can keep you stuck in a trap that steals your joy.
It can take you down a rabbit hole that you really don’t want to go down.
There is a clear link between your state of mind and your state of health.
Your body will always react to your thoughts…positive or negative.
If your thoughts are positive and empowering, that’s great. Continue that as much as you can.
The problem is, they’re usually not.
We have around 65,000 thoughts a day and nearly all of them are negative.
Anxious, disempowering or depressive thoughts will have a negative impact on you and your body if they continue long term.
Long, long term and your body gets too overwhelmed to fight disease.
The clue is in the name – dis-ease.
This is when high blood pressure, ulcers, skin conditions and illnesses can start to creep in.
You’ll never be happy that way.
You have to break yourself out of that trap.
Because that’s what it is…it’s not a safe zone.
A better way to live, and make decisions, is to get out of your head and start listening to your body.
You think a thought in your head.
You feel a feeling in your body.
Many of you never ask your body what its feeling.
We actually have 3 “brains” not just one.
We have the brain in our head, the “brain” in our heart and the “brain” in our gut.
The way we listen to our two other “brains” is through our emotions.
Ugh say most men!
So many men are scared of their emotions, so avoid them like the plague.
They’ll do anything to avoid feeling too deeply.
Drinking and drugs (illegal and prescription) are the favourite two.
But it can be anything – working excessively, doing sport compulsively, shopping, food, porn, anything…
The seat of your super, vitally important intuition is in your heart and your gut.
Your intuition knows you better than anyone or anything else in the world.
Drop from your head into your heart and gut and make decisions from there.
It can take 21 days to make or break a habit if you’re only using your head.
If you use your heart and gut you can make a change in seconds.
Yes, your emotions need to be controlled, but NOT completely controlled.
The ideal is to have emotions and rationale in perfect balance.
We are all capable of rampant emotion.
And this is where our happiness lies.
Start to practice dropping out of your head and allowing yourself to feel emotion in your body in any way that feels right to you.
That can be through music or art or sport or poetry or a book or movie…
Anything you enjoy, that moves you.
Allow those emotions to flow through you.
The quality of your life is DIRECTLY relatable to the quality of your emotions.
Any time you spend getting comfortable with them will be time well spent.
When we’re in our hearts we’re beautiful.

Remember: If you’re in your head your dead, but if you’re in your heart your smart.
Short and sweet this week.
Much Love
